Tips for professionals

How to get the most out of your listing

Your listing is your shop window. These are the details that make the difference.

1

Write a description that actually says something

It's the first thing a client reads, so avoid generic phrases.

Instead of “We carry out all kinds of work with the utmost professionalism”, write something like: “Air conditioning installation and repair in Marbella and Estepona. 12 years of experience. Free, no-obligation quote within 24 hours. We speak Spanish and English.”

Say exactly what you do, since when, where you work, how you quote and which languages you speak.

2

Upload photos of finished jobs

It's what convinces people most: seeing your work builds trust before they call.

Three or four already make a difference; six to eight is better. Finished jobs, in good light. Variety beats repeating the same kind of job. If you can, show a before and after.

Caption each photo saying what it shows and where: “New electrical panel in a villa in Estepona”.

Don't upload catalogue photos or images downloaded from the internet: it shows, and it hurts your credibility.

3

Add your logo

Listings with a logo are recognised at a glance. If you don't have one, a photo of you or your branded van works too: always better than initials.

4

Fill in both versions, Spanish and English

Many people on the Costa del Sol search in English. If you only write your description in Spanish, your listing looks empty to those clients. Your English doesn't need to be perfect: it just needs to be understandable.

5

Mark your areas and services carefully

This decides whether you appear in searches or not. Only mark where you'll actually work: if you tick the whole coast and then turn down far-away jobs, you and the client both waste time.

6

State your working hours

It avoids calls at awkward times and shows there's an organised business behind the listing. If you take 24-hour emergencies, say so clearly: it's one of the things that matters most when choosing.

7

Reply quickly

For these services, clients usually message several professionals at once, and often go with the first to reply, not the cheapest. Answering within the first hour, even just to say when you can come round, changes everything.

8

Keep your listing alive

Add photos of new jobs now and then, and update whatever changes: phone, areas, services. A year-old listing with an old phone number is worse than no listing at all.

9

Ask for reviews

When you finish a job that went well, ask the client to review you. Only people with a completed request can do it, so the reviews are genuine — and it shows.
